Young years

Ben Stiller was born November 30, 1965 in New York, United States, in the actors’ family. Ben’s father, Jerry Stiller was pop humorist, his mother, Ann Mira filmed on television. In 10 years he began to shoot at his own 8-mm camera. In 1983, Stiller finished school and entered the University of California. Remained there for an year, he decided that he has not got anything new for them, and returned to New York and enrolled in acting courses.
Soon he found himself an agent and in 1985 received a major role in the Broadway play “The House of Blue Leaves” by John Guara. The play was a huge success, won four prizes “Tony,” and Ben Stiller has gained the reputation of promising young talent. However, he was still not decided on what path he should go -- to the actor or the director. Playing in the play, he shot and mounted parallel to amateur short films, which are usually played by his colleagues in the theater.
